Want Passion for Life, Act Today

One of my greatest joys in my own life journey, is when I get to spend time with people who talk to me about their dreams for living in a way that brings them passion for life. It’s often pretty exciting to listen to their ideas, to watch their face light up as they describe their sense of Calling, what they’re being asked to do with their lives. Unfortunately, many of these conversations come to an abrupt end when I ask, “What will you do tomorrow morning to begin to make this dream a reality.”

The response from those who want stop the conversation after this question revolve around timing. Now is simply not good they say. “I’ll do it later, really.” Putting off following our Calling is one of the most common barriers that stand between us and our pursuit of our Sacred Path. Sure, we want to live a life of passion and meaning. Sure, we want to listen to the tugging at our heart to do something different. Sure we want to make a difference. But not now. Maybe after the kids are out of school, or after the 401 (k) is at a particular level. Maybe after the house is paid off.

These aren’t necessarily bad ideas. And it’s important to consider how we go about the extraordinary changes that a Calling can make on our life. But it’s even more important to recognize the deception that is often at play when we say “later.” Your life on this planet is not infinite. I’m hoping this is not news to you. Life comes to an end. The clock absolutely can run out, while we’re planning for tomorrow.

The remedy is simple to understand, but it’s often difficult to do. If you want to begin to pursue your Sacred Path, to live a life of passion, simply refuse to shy away from the question about what you will do tomorrow to begin to make your dreams for a more passion-filled life a reality. Better yet, what will you do today, right now. While it’s true at some point you will have to follow your Calling full throttle to reap all of the potential from its leading. And I believe more strongly than ever, that if you jump, the net will appear. Nevertheless, I encourage you to decide what will you do today to get it in your life, at least a bit. What actions, what thoughts, what relationships, what planning can you start today. And answer the same question tomorrow, and for all the rest of your tomorrows and you’ll be on your Sacred Path.

Later’s quickly add up to become over’s. Ultimately the clock can indeed run out. I trust that you’ll make sure that you’ll commit yourself to living while you live.
